The group honor the great tradition of Brazilian Vocal groups from the last half of the 20th century through present day(Quarteto Em Cy, MPB4, Boca Livre and more), singing fresh arrangements of classics and gems by composers such as Chico Buarque, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Ary Barroso, Dori Caymmi. Sandy Cressman’s Homenagem Brasileira celebrates the diversity of Brazil’s musical traditions-- from classic to contemporary, from saudade-filled bossa novas from Rio, to the fiery Samba Jazz of São Paulo, to the Baião and Frevo rhythms of the Northeast of Brazil. Homenagem Brasileira’s repertoire includes compositions from classic composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, and Dori Caymmi, as well as contemporary composers Ray Obiedo, Ian Faquini and Antonio Adolfo.
